Karen & Simon's Wedding

I have just finished reading Girl With a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier. Its all about the painter Vermeer and how the maid Griet observes the painters work. He teaches her to really see the subject in front of her - to notice that clouds are in fact not white but many different colours when you really look - grey, blue, pink, orange.

Paintings really influenced early photographers and much can be learned from them. How to show someone in their best light - how to make someones hands look slender and beautiful. How the tilt of your head one way or another can increase how beautiful you look.

It was shortly after I finished the book that I noticed these amazing paintings starting to appear on the streets of York.

Karen and Simon asked me to photograph their wedding shortly after this and imagine how excited I was to find a painting nearby. I managed to fulfil my wish to use it as a lovely background! Congratulations to you both.
What do you walk past every day without really seeing? Think about it!

Kate & Al's Wedding

Kate and Al invited me to travel to the beautiful Solberge Hall near Northallerton for their wedding on 24 th August. There was a lovely country feel to the wedding with the most gorgeous flowers.

Congratulations to Kate and Al.

More images will be on the client area in October when the couple return from their honeymoon.

Liz & James' Wedding

Liz and James married at the beautiful Bar Convent right by the city walls in York. They held their reception at St Williams College and we had chance to take some shots on the walls in the sunshine.

Congratulations to you both. More images will be available to view from this wedding on my client area from early October.

Lucy & John's Wedding

Congratulations to Lucy and John who married at St Matthew's Church in Chapel Allerton on 22 August and held their reception later at the Chevin Country Park Hotel.

Despite these incredible looking grey clouds we had fine weather and managed to shoot some romantic images on the top at Otley Chevin with the wind blowing and the beautiful stormy grey clouds giving a romantic and dramatic look to the pictures.

More images from this wedding will be available to view on my client area from early October.

Yorkshire Bride's Wedding Photographer of the Year

A big thank you to all customers who very kindly filled out the customer feedback forms for my entry into the Yorkshire Bride's Wedding Photographer of the Year competition. Your feedback (most of you responded excellent all though the questionnare) was useful, very much appreciated and your kind comments too ...

  • " Annemarie was so friendly and really put us both at ease ... The photo's we have are priceless " Mr Mrs G. Parry

  • " v. calm and subtle approach ... her work is superb " V. Thompson

  • " You can really tell Annemarie knows what she is doing " A. Snowdon

So, although i didn't win the award this year - I still feel like a winner to know that my couples love what I do !!

Thank you to everyone who helped and to my friends at CC Imaging who printed the entry on the most beautiful glossy metallic paper.

Claire and Ian's Wedding

17th August saw a beautiful sunny Sunday morning and I set off to shoot the wedding pictures for Claire and Ian at Swinton Park. What a beautiful wedding - this is one of the couple in a quiet corner with one of my famous (infamous?!) painted wooden doors behind.
Congratulations to you both

Norfolk Holiday

I visited Norfolk in early August with my Mum for a few days holiday. I just love being there because it is just so beautiful. We had lunch at the famous Hoste Arms in Burnham Market and had a look around the shops there. Of course I took not one but TWO cameras with me and just loved this gorgeous sign at the fish shop. Those of you who know my work know that I love my detail shots. Also, my strange passion for painted garage doors!!
